SCENT AND ARCHITECTURE

The sense of smell does not mean any possession or contact.

We can be delighted with pleasure, in the street, by a perfume worn by a person in the crowd, even when we cannot detect them.

Smell is the ideal sense, much more effective than the ear, much more discreet than the eye which acts as master, much more refined than taste which only enjoys when it consumes.

Through the nose, the world enters our heads, impertinently and unconsciously.

When we talk about smell and scents, we are inevitably talking about the way we organise and inhabit the space we live in.

In the construction of this space, we cannot avoid considering the presence of our nose.

In fact, the design of any environment has always taken into account, even if implicitly, the way in which each place interacts with olfactory receptors.

Today, more than ever, this subtle, incorporeal interplay between architecture and scent is gaining interest and importance. There are an increasing number of studies and specific applications aimed at designing and creating for each place its own specific "fragrance", a made-to-measure "olfactory atmosphere", in search of an overall synaesthesia in which all the senses harmonise in the right form.

The most immediate knowledge of a place is precisely that which passes through the sense of smell and, at the same time, is the strongest and most persistent in the memory, ready to return to the light as soon as a fragrance returns to our lives.

So are there languages, contacts and paths that bring architects and perfumers together?

Absolutely yes, inside the home you can design a real olfactory pathway using COSMERALDA fragrances for different spaces.

The living room, for example, is the home's calling card and the room used for hospitality and conviviality, which allows the host to showcase the most favourite fragrances, which must not be too invasive.

ENTU is highly recommended, as it will transport your imagination to a Sardinian beach with crystal-clear waters, the fresh air of sea salt and splashes of water, an escape from everyday life along the windswept beach.

In the bedroom, the intimate and personal space par excellence, we recommend our textile fragrance APPOSENTU. It induces an immediate relaxing effect, conducive to rest, with its scent of almond and orange blossom along with its soft, velvety notes of vanilla, white musk and cedar wood.

For the kitchen, we prefer fruity and lively fragrances such as those of our Gourmande line, S'Aranzada with its orange notes or Sa Pompia, the famous endemic Sardinian cedar, ideal notes to counteract kitchen odours, or why not the Su Nepente diffuser with its notes of grapes and red fruits.

The same goes for the restroom, where, thanks to our candles, you can recreate a relaxing atmosphere after a busy day by taking a hot bath and combining it with our fragrances such as HORO, sensual and bold, a sophisticated blend where the immortal helichrysum, typical of Sardinian flora, blends with rose, juniper and geranium to create an intense and engaging fragrance.
